September 2024 marked an important milestone for the Amazterra project.
After months of planning, engineering, permitting and preparation, construction officially began on what will become one of the region's most modern fruit processing facilities.
This image captures the earliest stage of the journey.
No walls. No roof. No machinery.
Just foundations being prepared in the heart of the Brazilian Amazon.
For many development projects, groundbreaking ceremonies last only a few hours.
For projects in remote regions of the Amazon, the real work begins long before the first concrete is poured.
Materials must be sourced and transported. Construction teams must be assembled. Infrastructure must be established. Logistics must be coordinated across vast distances and challenging terrain.
Every foundation trench represents months of preparation.
Every column represents confidence in a long-term vision.
The facility being constructed will eventually help create local processing capacity for one of the Amazon's most important agricultural products: açaí.
By processing fruit closer to where it is harvested, Amazterra aims to strengthen local value chains, reduce logistical bottlenecks and create economic opportunities within the region itself.
The project is designed as more than a processing facility.
It is intended to become part of a broader bioeconomy platform integrating agriculture, renewable energy, carbon removal and sustainable rural development.
Looking back at this photograph today, it is a reminder that every completed building starts with a single step.
This was ours.
The foundations were being laid—not only for a factory, but for a long-term commitment to the people, communities and landscapes of the Amazon.
